Team Davis Good Foods Garden

Internship Overview

Team Davis Good Foods Garden is a community based program that partnered with the UC Davis Nutrition Department to promote healthy live style behaviors through nutrition. The interns in this program work closely together to create lesson plans on nutrition, culinary lesson, gardening tips etc. Below are some of the projects I did during my time as an intern in my 4th year as a Clinical Nutrition students.

Mindful Eating

This brochure was created to explain the concept of "Mindful Eating." This particular approach to dining is designed to cultivate an enhanced awareness of one's appetite and food consumption by engaging all five senses: Sight, Touch, Hearing, Smell, and Taste. Through a deliberate focus on the sensory experience of the sustenance before us, individuals can adeptly modulate their levels of appetite and satiety. I actively contributed to the development of this informative brochure.

My Plate

The MyPlate Brochure, crafted as a comprehensive guide, aligns with the recommended dietary guidelines established by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). This informative resource offers suggested portion sizes for various food categories, including fruits, vegetables, grains, proteins, and dairy.

Common Allergens

My colleague and I delivered a presentation addressing the essential information concerning the eight common food allergens that individuals should be cognizant of, particularly those susceptible to food allergies. Our discussion encompassed prevalent symptoms and provided guidance on identifying when and whom to contact for assistance. For more detailed insights, we invite you to peruse the accompanying infographic, thoughtfully designed by fellow interns, displayed below.
